A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Hello all,
Discovered this site while searching for info on my recently bought Remington 1917. I purchased from Rock-Island auction, and after submitting my winning bid had to ask myself what I had gotten myself into. After much online research and taking possession of my rifle, I’m really looking forward to shooting my ‘new’ rifle. I removed the action from the stock, gave it a thorough cleaning and function test. My rifle has been sporterized. All seems good to go, with one exception. I’ve got a question about the bolt. Just how much pressure is customary to close? After learning that the action cocks on closing with greater pressure required, just wanted to know ‘how much more’ pressure? Would it be prudent to disassemble the bolt and after removing the firing mechanism, check to see if it requires less force to close? Looking forward to reading and learning from this form. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello everyone! Need to dip into the wealth of knowledge

I have the complete back end of a No. 5 MkI and and sporterized No. 4 MkI with a cut barrel.

My intention is to pick everyone's brain on true Jungle Carbine barrel length (as measured from closed bolt to end of flash hider) and use the cut No. 4 barrel and repro flash hider to make a semi-true Jungle Carbine. I will also need stock dims to see if any of this sporterized nightmare wood can be brought to No.5 spec.

I will then take the butchered No.4 and try the vaunted "T" conversion.

It just breaks my heart to see these things in this condition and thought I would play with them a bit.

Thanks all for the wealth of knowledge and sense of community.

L12A1 Conversion Kit British .22 Rimfire FAL

    Hello Everyone

I am Britishicon ex-Military working in Iraq and currently living in Franceicon. I have a FN 7.62mm FN and an looking for a.22mm conversion kit. I am a member of a local gun club and its expensive to shoot .762, so want the option of a smaller calibre
If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated.
I am working on finding out the legislation for the import of weapons accessories at the moment. I am told it shouldn't be to much of a problem.

    Best Regards

    Pjhha

    Hi All and Merry Christmas,

Retired USN & US Customs Air guy. Been collecting since early 70s and used to hang out a lot on Culvericon's and its predecessor Gun and Knife where my user name is Viking Guy. In the process of moving to North GA so hope to contribute when we are settled.

    Smle 1III*

    Hi,
I just registered an unissued (?) 1941 no1mk3* Lithgow saf.
Family legend is it was a WA ( Western Australiaicon) winning target rifle in the fifties.
It has no military issue stamping, and is only missing the rear sight and guard.
Has a Lane mount plate for aperture sight. I found an Austral aperture sight and attached it myself. Only put 5 rounds through before Christmas got in the way of more fun.
Long term I’m interested in period target competition and maybe tweaking the chamber with something like the NZ icbm ream.
    Cheers
    Peter
