    Wasp Spray

I know this is way off topic and probably stupid as well, but maybe somebody here has the correct information. I received an email from a friend telling me the following. She said that her local police department had told her that wasp spray gives better personal protection than pepper gas. So now she keeps a large can handy in her bedroom. I know that wasp spray goes pretty far, but would it really incapacitate a bad guy or just make him furious? TIA

Depends upon whether he's a wasp?

One of those huge cans of RAID from Home Depot with an electric lighter taped to it makes a formidable defense weapon. Just be sure to have a fire extinguisher handy.

I once got some waspspray in my eyes last year while I was using it to get rid of a nest in a barrack of my backyard. The wind turned so I only got some of it in my eyes and I can tell you that it really hurts.
My eyes teared for hours and they became all red and swelled.
Also got some Peppergas in my eyes while I was shooting around with peppergas-cartridges. (I should have learned from that incident....)
That was pretty much the same effect...
Now I don't know how bad a full load of Peppergas/Waspspray is but I can tell you that even a small dose of both is really vicious ! I'm not an expert but I think that the level of pain is comparable. Waspspray is cheaper and a bottle of Waspspray is usually bigger than a bottle of pepperspray so I'd go for the Waspspray !
Waspspray definatley makes Babyjesus cry !
    Regards, Private Paula...

Lots of things are irritants but I can't see why something around so long could be found better than pepper. Are we certain this isn't a joke that went over somebodys head?

WASP spray effective against White Anglo-Saxon Protestants.

Sure sounds like a joke to me.

I'd go for the waspspray, too. Plus, it is death on hornets.

Ah, can cause blindness. You will better off killing the guy than having him sue you.

Not sure that is good advice.

Oh it will incapacitate, but you'll have a lot of 'splaining to do to the Grand Jury and in Civil Court when the scumbag sues you for blinding him..

In this litigious society, I'd use the product meant for such use (pepper spray). If it has unpredictable side effect on the percolater, it's not your fault but that of the the manufacturer.

I believe that for defensive use a magazine full of .45 ACP hollowpoints is better than either pepper spray or wasp spray.
