Was this in a rural area, or what? It took over 15 minutes for the first units to arrive on the scene. Not exactly a fast response time. The caller could have bled to death in that amount of time.

I keep a 9mm on the nightstand and a auto 12ga (no plug) loaded with 00 buck and #4 shot. Wife has here .38 spl. on her nightstand. I'm a extremely light sleeper and slightest sound wakes me. I'll call 911 later when we are safe.

(As an aside to joem - I like the way you think! I just happen to have a 12-ga (pump, in my case) next to the bed with a 9mm on the nightstand and the wife has a .38 in her nightstand!)
