Hi, I got a Saginaw carbine the other day and I have a quick question before pic's taken.-- Stamping is erratic Saginaw\ S'S'GG ( S and G are are cut in half) I know one would have to see it to understand and the barrel is Underwood ( Unde od with just a 3 below and just the O of the ordnance bomb. S/n 1873xxx Thanks for your time and patience and If your head is shaking (so is mine). Any comments appreciated. RJB.

Your new carbine comes from the serial number block that was originally assigned to Irwin-Pedersen. This serial block started at 1,762,520 and ended with 1,875,039. Part way through IP's contract was cancelled and the rest of that block was taken over by Saginaw Steering Gear. These are the first of the S'G' carbines made in Grand Rapids Michigan. A number of odd stampings have been reported during this serial number block. I would imagine there was quite a bit of confusion during the take over. S'G' trying to use any left over IP parts etc.
Pictures of your markings would be of interest. Maybe the receiver was double stamped or had bounced causing a double strike (?) I have a 1,823,135 S'G' with the original barrel...a Underwood dated 8-43. Looking forward to pictures of your's. Here's mine and hope I helped a little.

I load my pictures from the camera to desk top to photobucket. Once on photobucket I high light and copy the IMG code and paste it into the post here. Always a good idea to 'Preview your reply' before you post to make sure your pics are attached.
Sounds like you have a re-build/mixer. Some great people here that will come forward and offer up trades for parts you need vs parts you have. If I had a extra S'G' bolt......I'd be offering it up for your RMC bolt. Your band marked with the UP on the swivel is a hard one to find ($$).
Looking forward to seeing your carbine.
I was going to give you a heads up about JohnR's post with a S'G' close to yours and his quest for correct parts to restore his. But I see you found it.
The parts you seek are pricey.........becareful of the repro parts out there. If in doubt ask the members here.
    A good weekend to you.

    Regards

P.S. never seen a Op slide marked CC (?)
