Kenner, La. gunshow report and lucky find.

Hey guys,

Went to the Kenner, La. show today. Sorry to report no significant '03's. Saw a couple, nothing special. The one I was carrying for sale was the best one in the house. No brag, just fact. Half a dozen men handled it and agreed it was very fine and not a one griped about the condition or my price of eight hundred. That's what a good one goes for at this show. Nobody coughed up the cash though, that's ok, don't need the cash, but have others and would like to get an M1922.

One ratty '03 sporter was kinda' interesting. The barrelled receiver was covered in light surface rust and had the biggest Hatcher hole I have ever seen, musta' been a good quarter inch in diameter. Metal rested in a very nasty Montycarlo something of a stock, firewood. It had an RIA two hundred eighty three thousand something serial number. Very close to a high number. Price was, say two sixty. Think the rust was not a big problem, the metal was not heavily pitted. Didn't look at the bore, I was sellin' not buyin'. Mighta' been a good piece for restoration, maybe had an RIA barrel. Sorry I didn't take a closer look, but wasn't lookin' for a project.

Lot'sa overpriced M1 carbines were offered and not sellin'.

Dragged a coupla' things outa' there. A very nice Kerr M1917 sling. The longest one. Which can be rigged to fit an '03. I posted photos on the M1917 forum if you want a look. Real nice...and forty bucks.

Bought a coupla' boxes of Spanish military manufactured .380 ammo. Very cool packaging. Mfg. in 1982. Sealed primers. Marked "No Corrosivo". Fourteen bucks for a twenty five round box. That's the cheapest .380 cartridges here. Here's another cool thing. The box is marked "Semiblindado" as in describing the bullets. Daughter is a four year honors Spanish student so I quizzed her on the word. The bullets are semi-jacketed soft points. She Googled the "Semiblindado" word and came up with this. Blindado is a form of the Spanish verb that means "Armoured". And "Semi" is not represented in the Spanish language. So... "Semiblindado" means jacketed soft point in Spanish, they are nearly hollow points. Sure they will fire just fine. Nasty little bullets. Ya'
learn something every day.

P.S. There was lotsa' ammo to be had and not at terrible prices. One dealer told me that there was a run on primers as soon as the show opened. Thousand to a customer and the line was ten deep for a coupla' hours.

Lotsa' eye candy like a correct K43 sniper rifle with scope and covers, no BS, I know this dealer well. Five or six grand. Nice condition.
