I know its a 1905 Ross...however

I cannot find the typical markings of unit assignments etc, as seen in the Milsurp Knowledge Library.
I was hoping one of you learned men could shed some more light on its specific details.

I can only locate a serial number on the bolt(4 digit beginning with 5)

It is missing some obvious parts.( yep my search continues, I know I am dreaming but ya never know) I believe I need the front wood w/bayo lug, front sight hood, slide for butt stock plate, sling and bayonet

The stock looks sanded to me. Likely that's why there are no markings. Is there a flaming bomb cartouche on the underside of the grip?

No flaming bomb that I can see, on the back of the bolt handle is a crossed flags sort of affair. and below that a crown and I think "50" vertically stamped

You have a sported Mk. II*** rifle. Apart from being cut, the stock has been sanded and varnished. The various markings, serial number, date, units, etc. would have been on the right side of the butt. Not unusual for these to disappear when a stock gets refinished. The stock could be spliced under the band, so the joint would be unobtrusive. As far as metal parts necessary, you would need a nosecap with screw and stacking swivel, magazine cutoff and spring, a rear sight screw. If you can find the parts, restoration is practical. Strip the varnish chemically, do as little sanding as possible. How is the bore? The breech might be marked LC, indicating that the chamber has been enlarged. As Claven2 mentionned, there could be US markings on the bottom of the grip, if the rifle was one of 20 000 which were supplied to the US in 1917.

Many thanks for your observations...The bore in my undeducated opinion looks good, it puts em where I point em. The magazine cutoff has me puzzled at to where that would be missing from? and rear sight screw...hmmmm.

I carried it around today at the Port Perry show, hoping to find parts but was unsuccessful.

The cut off is a sheet metal stamping. It fits through the hole in the inside front of the trigger guard. Appears as a sort of curl inside the guard. Its upper end has two prongs that extend into the magazine. Pull down the curl until it latches, and the magazine won't feed.
"Wheaty" on CGN (might be a member here as well, haven't checked) might have the parts.
