Just got a number of 03 parts and barrels.

Went to an auction tonight and did not see anything that caught my eye. Then I looked under one of the tables and there was a Remington box full of of 3 parts and barrels. Which I won.

Just got home late so I have not looked an anything yet except there was Smith Carona action for an 03A3 in there with a SC barrel partly screwed on to the action dated 9 -43.

The action looks like it is chrome but with some exposure problems on it. The serial number is 4776160. Were there ever chrome receivers on SCs or am I looking at a receiver in the white?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I am not aware of SC making any chrome-plated receivers. VFW and American Legion posts, however, regularly chrome-plated their rifles. Perhaps you have one of those.

On the other hand, you may have a receiver in-the-white from which someone (Bubba) stripped the parkerizing.

    Hope this helps.

We had large numbers of Chromed A3's when I was in High School ROTC. I presume either the Army or the School system did this. The rifles were the property of the school system and they decided to sell all of the guns in all of the armories which was done about 1966, to whoever wanted to cart one off for $20. I saw some people buy those ugly chromed A3's.
