As for the HEPA Filter stuff: I remain exceedingly dubious. It's not like the Russians are using Black Power (or Unique! ha ha) in this ammo.

Hello, whether it;'s made by Winchester or Tula, it;s all made out of the SAME STUFF ( nitrocellulose ). This HEPA thing bears all the same earmarks of the OTHER "BIG BAD WOLF" stories debunked in this thread.

Not necessarily, Double Base Powders contain varying percentages of nitroglycerin and chemicals used to morerate the high temperatures of the basic formula. Without moderation Double Base powders would eat up barrels quickly. The amounts and qualities of the additives vary greatly. Winchester has in recent years modified their 748 powders to reduce erosion.

Some additives form plastic like residue, Poly Esther is one additive listed for Winchester Ball, no telling what you'll find in European Ball. There seems to be a lot of Graphite in the Ball Powder I found in some 7.62X54 Ammo.

I use only single base powders, far easier to clean up after shooting.
Some Olin Ball I've used left bores looking like the inside of 19th century factory smokestacks after only a few rounds.

Theres probably good ammo and bad ammo bearing the Wolf brand name.

Some ammo warnings on heavy ball .303 ammo that shattered a No.4 Enfield Bolthead give the same headstamp as found on Privi Partizan, and a visitor to another forum reported pressure signs and hard extraction from 150 grain .303 from Wolf.

There are posts complaining of malfunction, sticky extraction, and broken extractors using wolf all over forums I looked in on.

The AK and SKS chambers and gas systems can handle the dirtiest ammo, but not all rifles are that robust, and some commercially produced rifles of these types have chambers cut to tighter dimensions.

I figure I'll avoid Wolf and probably most other non US brands for now.

I did a fairly extensive test of a bunch of .303 ammo, as well as handloaded .303 using bullets (and powder) from surplus 7.62X54R (like when this made sense becuase you could buy 54R for 10-12 cents a round). I was planning on doing a write up, but between a computer crash and a move, things got put aside at loeast temporarily.

The Wolf .303 ammo (most especially the 150 grain "Gold") is without any doubt the finest factory mass-produced .303 ammuntition ever. The brass is fantastic and last forever, accuracy was superb, and I was getting SD's over my Chrony like an airgun with it (like 7's and 9's). No Prvi that I have ever shot was "hot."

I still have a few hundred 54R Berdan virgin primed brass around from the experiments if anybody needs some! (and yes, you can safely use components from 54R to reload .303--it's just not something to do without a chrony and a good quality micrometer).

I only use steel case ammo in 7.62x39 and 7.62x54. The guns were made to use it and they work fine with it. OTOH, I had a case of Wolf .223 62 grain and sold it to my son for $200. I decided not to use it in my Colt AR.
