    Public Enemies

Has anyone seen this movie? I believe it has gotten mixed reviews.

I haven't, but I saw a interview with Johnny Dep, the star. What happened to that guy since "Gilbert Grape" and "Hamburger Hill?" Hollyweird has really taken its toll on his mind. Total weirdness! Other than emptying magazines with the Thompson, what the attraction I don't know. I will wait with you for the answers to your question.

I saw it last night. As a whole I liked it. However, I'm not sure that I liked Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis. Overall I think it was well done. Lots of Thompson's, BAR's, Colt Government Model/M1911's, etc to watch in action. I don't know how accurate it was but I'd likely see it again.

Johnny Depp is the most friendly, upright person Hollywood has seen in decades.

Just got back from it. Lots of guns and old cars. Sort of a Miami Vice meets the 30's. Billy Crudup as a publicity-seeking J. Edgar Hoover, and the beginnings of the FBI acquiring more power as the federal government takes over after interstate crime. The Chicago law enforcement is portrayed as corrupt. Very stylish but then it's not the sort of movie you think too deeply about. I liked the wiretapping scenes where they had banks of telephone switchboards and recording conversations on waxed phono discs. Interesting comparing the technology of the time. Probably see it again, even liked the electric bluegrass music.

Johnny Depp doesn't do Hollyweird. He lives in Franceicon and only comes to the states to do movies. Try watching the movie "From Hell", I*t's about Jack the Ripper. Very well done.

He's had a ten year relationship with a Frenchicon actress and they live a private life in France to stay away from Hollywood and all the madness there. They're supposed to get married soon in a private ceremony with no press.

(I had just read this in an interview by chance ;-)

The wife and I just saw it. Diverting, but once is enough. The only character I found interesting was the white haired Texas agent; and then everything had to be taken on inference.

    Much preferred "Road to Perdition".
