You would have to do allot of fact checking on that list. I have read many times that the Teddy Bear name has nothing to do with Pres. Roosevelt. Can't remember details tho. And I cannot imagine him refusing to shoot a bear!

Read 'em all from the top though mine are at the bottom. Missouri's claim may be a bit of a stretch: The St. Louis World's Fair of 1904 was where the ice cream cone was introduced, but the Doumar brothers who introduced the cones were from New Jersey and traveled to St. Louis to sell them at a souvenir shop. They later relocated to Virginia Beach, VA and then to Norfolk, VA. Their original machine is still in use at the family's drive-in restaurant . More, HERE.

MARYLAND ... King Williams School opened in 1696. It was the first school in the United States .

Well, considering the fact that the Jamestown settlement was established in 1607 that would mean that 89 years elapsed before anyone started a school in any of the English colonies ... which cannot be correct.

According to THIS, the first school in the colonies was the Boston Latin School established in 1635 in Boston, Mass, beating Harvard College by a year.

William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, was established in 1693, again beating the date claimed for Maryland, this time by three years.
