A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. MoD for the vast 60's Crown Agents programme in Malaya/Singapore, they were to No5 length, patched-in and pegged. If it's a civvy fix-it-quick-and-cheap ...........

Negative! The lower (shorter) No 4 to No 5 converted fore-end is from BDL icon

and they maintain that it´s ex-WD.

Wouldn´t it be better when converting a No. 4 fore-end to fit a short plug into the lightening groove to re-inforce the cut for the fore-end band?

Glad to hear that the shorter No. 4/5 fore-end conversions are NOT original. Never liked the look of them. (So now I´ve gotta spare .... short ... No. 5 fore-end).
