    OT, Another MOH Hero Dies

Michael Jackson dies and it’s 24/7 news coverage. A real American hero dies and not a mention of it in the news. The media has no honor and God is watching

    Ed Freeman
You're a 19-year-old kid. You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley, 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray, Vietnam. Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you're not getting out. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter and you look up to see an unarmed Huey, but it doesn't seem real because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.

Ed Freeman is coming for you. He's not Medi-Vac, so it's not his job, but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

    He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out, through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses.

And he kept coming back, 13 more times, and took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honor Recipient Ed Freeman died on Wednesday, June 25th, 2009, at the age of 80, in Boise, ID. May God rest his soul.

    Medal of Honor Winner
    Ed Freeman!

Since the media didn't give him the coverage he deserves, send this to every red-blooded American you know.

THANKS AGAIN, ED, FOR WHAT YOU DID FOR OUR COUNTRY.
    RIP

    Regards

    Ed Freeman MOH

As usual, right leaning people got it wrong and fell for another urban myth!!

Here is the truth and several links from a simple Google search:

Comments: Judging from the closing sentences of the above message one could get the impression that the courageous life and quiet death of former Army Captain and Medal of Honor recipient Ed W. Freeman had been completely ignored by the media. Not so, as the partial list of news sources further down this page amply demonstrates.

Freeman passed away at the age of 80 on August 29, 2008 and was honored with obituaries in newspapers across the country.

Ed W. "Too Tall" Freeman (November 20, 1927 - August 20, 2008) was a United Statesicon Army helicopter pilot who received the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in the Battle of Ia Drang during the Vietnam War. During the battle, he flew through gunfire numerous times, bringing supplies to a trapped American battalion and flying dozens of wounded soldiers to safety. Freeman was a wingman for Major Bruce Crandall who also received the Medal of Honor for the same missions.

I'm not trying to insult or belittle Mr. Freeman, but don't believe ANYTHING you see on the internet without at least doing a simple search and fact check.

    Mike,
I didn't bother to check out how much the media had covered this story and passed it along as it was sent to me. I hold no grudges against the media.....to be honest...I was just trying to pass on a tribute to Mr. Freeman. I'm just a guy that stays to busy to catch all the news. But wanted to share the loss of another American hero. I feel we can't thank them enough.

    Best Regards
    Charlie Holland

OK so Mr. Freeman has been mentioned before. He was a MOH recipient for gods sake, always worth mentioning again.

So then, how about another hero named Ed. Who just happened to die at the same time as Jackson, Mr. Ed McMahon. He got just a side mention. He was more then just Johnny Carson's second banana.

He was 86 years old when he died.

During WW2 he was a flight instructor and test pilot. (6 Air Medals) How safe was a test pilot during WW2. He got out in 1946.

Re-upped after college and went to Korea in 1952. Completing 85 Bird Dog missions. You know that was hazardous duty. Retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1966 and was then commissioned as a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard.

Ed McMahon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What kind of coverage did any of that get? Hardly a mention because of the Jackson show.

What did Jackson ever do for our country? Never served, I don't recall him ever doing a USO show or visiting troops. All I see is that he was a song and dance person who made hundreds of millions of dollars and flaunted it. As a person he was a freak physically and emotionally.

The media only shows or prints what they think will sell newspapers or air time. American hero's don't sell, they have only saved lives and liberty.

    Off the soap box.

    Jim
