The Moss 44US came from the Mossberg plant with a blue metal finish. Tour gun with a parkerized finish has went through a Military rebuild along the line so yes the finish is correct. Now you have to look for the blued version. The front sight is a single blade dovetailed into the barrel. I have seen guys on the forums talk about a hood for the Moss 44US but have never seen one or know how it would attach. Enjoy your rifle and shoot it. Also look for a Moss 42MB with Britishicon Proof marks that was a Lend-Lease rifle in WW11.

Those old M44s are fine rifles and tack drivers. Too heavy to shoot in most Sporter Matches but simply a pleasure to shoot. US GOVT PROPERTY marked ones were made and issued, for the most part, during WW2.

It doesnt get much better than that.
