Friend looking for mag cover spring

    Dave Price here:
I need a "Magazine cover spring" AKA loading port cover spring for a M1941. Any leads will help.

    Thanks

Both SARCO and Numrich Gun Parts Corp. have them.

When you get it , you'll see that it can go in two ways. Match the spring leg to the wear pattern on the body. If you put it in upsidedown , you'll have an 8-shooter (I know). Chris

It must have been installed correctly, 'cuz its the one I ended up with, and it holds 10! Thanks for the tip though.

BTW The blood welts on my shoulder caused by the ill-fitting toe of the butt plate are fading.

    Dagnabbit!

Prepping to shoot this Friday, I broke the Johnson out of "prison", checking the magazine for ammo before opening the bolt and declaring it "clear", so guess what happened--- PING!--- goes the mag cover spring. Errrrrr... What's up w/ that? No excessive force or travel opening the "trap door", the first spring breakage was explainable, but this is a mystery. Dang thing was supposed to be Marine-proof!!!

You are dealing with an almost 70 year old strip of spring!

Mr. Price recalled that his old Johnson had a coil spring to close the mag cover, so I went and slipped in 3 old VCR cassette springs /w no modification to the mag assembly, and it seems to be a viable repair!

Will try w/ some heavier gage spring stock today and see.
