Late RMC butt plates

I just printed off the Butt plate ID page from Chestnut Ridge.
M1 Carbine Buttplate Identification

I'm trying to ID a box of butt plates I just refinished.
Seems like I recall someone posting a picture of a late/not commonly seen butt plate for a late Rock Ola.
Anyone remember seeing this?

Charlie, the late Rock-ola butt plate I had matched the pic in Riesch's book.
So I think it is correct, unless Brian chimes in, lol.

I've found 2 butt plates with the dot missing at the 3 '0' clock position, Early RMC.
I also found 1 like it...but it has 2 missing...the dot missing at 3 and just below it...I'll call 3:30. Otherwise same exact pattern.

So the late pattern you're talking about must be the one shown in the book with the dot missing at 6 '0' clock.

Are the ones with the dot missing at 5 still considered late RMC along with SG?

I have maybe 75 more to go thru....the obvious ones are pretty easy. Need a break right now. I've been staring at them to long.

I'm trying to ID these plates the best I can. I'm putting some stocks and metal together and trying to put the correct butt plates on them. I used the Chestnut Ridge ID listings......I hope I'm close to being correct. Might have to list with a disclaimer ;-)

I'm fairly sure the early Rockols plate had a dimple missing at 3:00.
(I looked for one for a while but prices were high)

Do you have one with the 3:00 dimple missing? I guess I could buy it as a start and build a new rockola from the butt forward.

Settled on one with 5:00 dimple missing on the rockola I had until I could find the correct one.


PS - I've been told some of the plate ID's on that page are incorrect, but I don't know if that's correct.

Let me piggyback on your thread and post this unusual butplate again. I didn't get any takers last time.
Plate seems to have more dots than any others seen. The row with the arrow, for example, has 14 dots whereas all others no more than 12.
Anyone have any ideas?

Closest I see to it is a NPM but it doesn't match up exactly. The outer rows look right....but yours has a row of 5 missing at the top of the screw hole and the bottom.....???

Some one else suggested it may have been a very early pattern design by a subcontractor prior to it being standardized in the military contracts. Or perhaps of foreign mfg. Overall, however, sure resembles USGI to me.
