i used to watch it and even though i know is TV...couple things rubbed be wrong...first when they fired a Blunder buss, gawd. the Rokon buy. the Minerilli Indian mini bike...spent 3 grand on a bike worth 1000.00 tops...a restickered chapparel mini bike...when the guy took in a ejection seat and said it was complete and in working order {likely BS} and said sure its legal to own...
NOT! only if its had the rockets removed and demilled, ect ect,...
and though iv stopped watching that and topshots... i got wind of a rare 73 Husqvarna 400CR that they picked up and turned it into a chopper????gawd...what a waste...
i shoot and collect vintage weapons, as well as restore, collect and race vintage dirtbikes....only worse thing they could have done was to hire a hot looking redhead, and have dye her hair blonde...lol. im all about a restoration....but do it right or leave it alone..

To answer the original question, Hotchkiss and Gatling guns are legal as they are NOT gas operated therefore requiring no paperwork. Actualy any machine gun that is papered is also legal to own.
Speaking of antique road shows, years ago they had the british one on television.
A woman brought in a Colt Walker that had been in the family since it was ISSUED to an ancestor! She had family records going back to that time period. The gun was in working order, but obviously the Blue had turned brown.
The so called "egg spurt" said, "Madam, you have a Colt Walker revolver, I would value it at 2000 pounds, BUT you should have the grips changed because they are a bit tatty! The IDIOT should have stuck to valuing chamber pots!!!!!!
