    Repair of Colt 1911 Again

Ok, I replaced the sear and spring. The hammer will now stay locked in place when fully cocked. BUT, when I pull the trigger, the hammer fall is soft. It does not snap back. What do I look for now? A new hammer? Is there an adjustment I can make?
The Colt is a 1918 vintage.

If the hammer fall is slow, sounds like the mainspring is very weak.

I have tried and used 3 different new main springs and the same results. Could it be the hammer is worn? That is the only piece that has not been replaced.
Where can I get a hammer?

could be a shortend strut, the arm that comes off the hammer, id repalace that first, before the hammer,
1911 Hammers can be tough to find.

I guess I fail to see how a worn hammer would slow the hammer fall.

Or maybe the hammer pin is binding and too tight? Just a thought.

after seeing the pic, id say a good soaking in solvent, a brush, and a bit of oil, would do wonders,
id avoid shooting it until you have the rust under control.
im sure i could get it up and running without too much trouble, and keep from cleaning out your wallet.
remove the grips, and toss it in a coffee can of WD 40, tranny fluid, and bore solvent, let it soak for a few days, covered, and then remove, and take the gun apart {completely}, scrub it with a good brass brush, and assemble, replace all the springs, and id bet it would fix this issue.

Thanks Chuck and others, it now works. Needed a good cleaning and replace of some small parts.
