Question New to forum need help w/ markings

Gents, I recently bought an Enfield. What do these marks and serial numbers mean to you guys?

On Left side flat 1" beneath rear sight "W" with serifs
In front of triggerguard is a 7 E and above that is a C with an eaglehead above.
Behind trigger guard is a 1 H (w/ serifs) above an eagle head.
Pistol grip has no "P" circled or plain.
    Toe of stock has 26
Tip of stock looks like F and T/P

Serial number is 7797xx Barrel date 6-18
    Thanks in advance.
    Bob

Chuck, it's ALWAYS welcomed to have a question answered, even if repeated, from respectable and credible sources. You are among those sources. I have the book. Having several knowledgeable people say the same thing is icing on the cake. Please reiterate what you posted on another forum on this M1917 forum. I look forward to the data you provided concerning his question.

Thank you for your patience and tolerance.

    Thomas

ok so here it is again
    W Winchester
E is Eddystone, the C and eagles head are a normal stamp 1917 to 1918
the F is likely a light struck E for Eddystone, the numbers are subepectors marks,
the eagles on the stock front and aft the trigger guard are normal stamps for an Eddystone stock.
likely a normal M1917 like most of the ones you see today, that have been used, rebuild, repaired until they were sold as surplus, and ended up in our hands.
id bet if you completely took the rifle apart you would find a mix of R E W and other markings common of a surplus 1917 rifle. they are good safe rifles to shoot, made from durfaced hardened 3.5% nickle steel.
make sure the bore is in good order, shoot and enjoy.
for more detailed info, pick up a copy of C.S, Ferris book on the M1917.
    Nicks book is awesome.
