    Carbine match at Camp Perry

How many of y'all shot it and how did y'all do? Seemed well run to me. I surprised myself by coming in one point under gold, considering the carbine hadn't been out of the house in a couple years. Best highlight for me was the issued ammo, LC 71. Don't know where they got it, but one of the CMPicon store employees said he didn't think they'd be selling any of it anytime soon. Too bad, it was a hoot shooting ammo made the same year I joined up, and I'd love a couple boxes to put back for old time's sake.

I really started out on fire, then dropped a miss off hand.Still hung in for a silver medal. Had a great time though. Stayed late and loaned my gear and gun to the girl from the Dillon calendar who was there for the banquet. My friend coached her thru on the last relay and she had a blast.

Kind of off subject slightly, but I had thought that they held some of those matches in my home state of New Mexico, in Raton...I've never ventured that far north, but I heard they have an excellent facility. Anyone know about it and what matches they have?

Magyar, I don't know that the Whittington Center in Raton has any Carbine matches, but did find this schedule on their website: http://www.nrawc.org/schedule.html

There's also the CMPicon Western Games in Phoenix in October, but their schedule doesn't indicate any specific Carbine matches, although they do have for the M-1 Garandicon and I think the Carbine can be shot in the John C. Garand matches, possibly: http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/WesternGames.htm

Shot it again (have shot it all 4 yrs running) and enjoyed it. Shot ok. Its a quick match, fun, and its neat to shoot that little pup gun. If you do it right, they shoot ok, but you gotta be careful with them. Put too much sling pressure on them, change your cheek weld, and all kinda things can happen! :-)

Its the ONLY time I shoot a carbine too, so its a good excuse to get one out and fire it a bit.
