Birch Run, MI Gun Show Report

The Gun and Knife show in Birch Run is one of the bigger shows in Mich. I have to say that pickings were slim in terms of older U.S. military rifles. I saw only a handful of carbines all priced at $1,000+ regardless of condition, a few M1icon's priced between $800-$1,000 and even fewer M1903's, most of which were actually A3's best described as beaters (painted stocks and parts/ parts missing). The best 'deal' I saw was a beautiful Remington M1903 with grasping groove stock and all milled parts. Given how clean it was, I didn't think the vendor's asking price of $700 was too outragous considering I saw a few Mosin-Nagant's priced as high. Ammo was pleantiful but sky high. Overall, last weekend's show--which is normally a decent one--offered strong evidence that fear is driving the gun and ammo market right now. Glad I already own most of the guns that interest me!

An early remington 03 GG stock ? And you passed it up. You missed the boat on that one. The stock is almost worth the $700.00 by itself... FWIW

I'm wary of that Remington. It could be a bargain but there could be a catch to it. If it is legit, $700 is terrific. If it's too good to be true, it usually isn't. Thanks for the report; I share similar comments at the big shows I attend in Maryland. Here, in Maryland, most vendors offer good stuff at excessive prices and mediocre to lowgrade items at high prices. There are the minority of vendors who offer good-grade items at fair prices.

Thanks for the post; I always have an interest in the state of affairs at out-of-state gunshows.
