Anyone know an easy way to de-link 7.62 M60 Ammo?
I have several belts I want to break down and not having a de-linking machine am forced to use pliers and pull. These things are in there tight, much more so than I remember 30 cal M2 ball in that type link. May not have been such a good gun show buy after all!
TIA for your help.

De-linking 7.62
Charlie-Try this. Break the belts down to the smallest sections as possible. Basically twist belt sections in opposite directions. Once you've got them broken down into 3,4,5 round sections, merely hold the round nose down/primer up and apply downward pressure on a piece of wood. It only takes a little pressure to dislodge the retainer clip that fits into the cartridge rim. The round should fall out. I've never seen this unseat a round from the casing, or push it further into the brass. You're right about .30 cal linked, as I recall they were attached higher up on the casing. Give it a try for a few rounds an see you're satisfied. It is a lot easier that pliers and probably safer.Good luck. SKIP

Pliers????
Take above advice. Twist, Pull, Repeat. Please dont ever use pliers on rounds again.

Thanks to you both! Just tried it and it works like a charm. Did not know you could twist the rounds apart like that. Easy as pie.
Much obliged!!!

De-linking 7.62
Charlie- Glad to help! Was a little concerned with the plier usage. A slip could result in a real bad day. Drive on! SKIP
