Happened across a Brit film of the years up to and the first 2 years of WWII on PBS last night. Remarkably, it was all in color. What got my attention was a segment featuring a parade before the King. Suddenly a company was marching by at shoulder arms (why to they continue to carry rifles in the same manner as they carried muskets 200 years ago?). The entire company was carrying Springfield 03's with that very prominent red band at the upper sling swivel. First time I've ever seen an entire unit so equipped. Usually it's a picture of just one guy.Information
