    Father shoots, kills son . . .

    http://www.indystar.com/article/2009...shooting+death

    What a maroon!

What kind of IDIOT carries a loaded revolver WITH THE HAMMER COCKED in the same hand he's using to push his son in the stroller?

I still defend to the death the RKBA. But geez louise, people, a little common sense & some responsibility, please!!

It is obvious that our current generations are not endowed with as much common sense as in the past. Is is because of the nanny state attitude or a matter of gene pool weakening as we grow away from being self sufficient and self aware. It is too bad as the child shouldn't have to pay with his life.

And now it turns out that the girlfriend has been arrested on various charges for hiding the gun after the shooting.

    http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dl...#pluckcomments

On top of that, this guy was a apparently a convicted felon who wasn't entitled to possess the firearm in the first place.

This is just getting better & better (don't let the sarcasm drip on your shoes . . .).

I just can't believe it was an accident.

Recently in a nearby town a 12 year old found his father's gun while they were home alone. Yep, you guessed it. One dead child.

It amazes me how stupid some parents can be. They just can't envision all possible scenarios.

I have loaded CCW's in my cars, near my bed, and out in my shop. But none are chambered and ready to fire by a toddler. If I need one I know what to do, I practice grabbing and chambering one.

My mother's father kept a loaded semi-auto on the mantle for as long as she can remember. As the third oldest of ten that means that most of those children were toddlers for the period of time that the loaded gun was there.
She says "we did not even think about touching it". Had one of them touched it I shudder to think of the whipping they would have received.
    Stupidity is relative.

    It wasn't an accident, IM(ns)HO.

Unintentional, no doubt, but I can't categorize carrying a loaded, cocked revolver in my hand & using that hand to push a baby stroller as an "accident". Anyone who knows anything at all about firearms could have seen that one coming.....

My father kept a loaded .25 auto in the top drawer of the chest in my parents bedroom. All of us kids knew it was there but we also knew that if we touched it we had better just shoot ourselves with it 'coz that wouldn't be NUTHIN' compared to the trouble we would be in otherwise . . . . .
