    Hey Bill,

Your top sling looks just like one I have, real deal. If it is for an M1917 rifle, the long segment should be fifty four inches long and the short segment sixteen inches. Same sling for an M1903 would have shorter segments. Tommy gun sling would be the shortest of all and I know nothing about them.

Love these slings. Best design I have come across. Perfect form and function. Ever try to sling up a rifle with a Kerr? Google for instructions...if not there will be cussin' involved. First thing I noticed is that the sling ends do not fit through a rifle's swivels unless you know the proper installation info.

    Regards,

    Lancebear

I found that sling installation information years ago on the web and even with that I had to look at it more than once! The sling is installed on a 1903. The blackened hardware sling is shorter.

After reading that the blackened hardware was for the Tommy gun I now have my doubts. Both have the same weave. TIA

    Bill,

Your top sling is an M1903 sling.

Your bottom sling appears to be a Tommy Gun sling.

Hope this helps. Thanks for the pictures!

I snapped a pic of two all laid out. The top must be for TSMG with the 50's MRT date.
