    Rockola..the good , the bad..the ugly.

Where to start...the bad? It is a 'Blue Sky". The barrel is Underwood 6-44 and looks real good inside.. FCG is upside down Inland logo, hammer is KR. Op slide is underlined PI with numbers 184813 on out side.. Bolt is flat IO. Bayo lug/swivel marked JM. M marked mag catch, flip safety. Recoil block marked RO-G. It was tagged Underwood but the R and A peeking out from under the milled IRCO rear sight told me other wise. The SN# 1758853 on receiver. Some shops don't pay much attention to the info under that rear sight. The good...it is in good order, the finish is consistent on all metal parts and the price was not too bad...$500 OTD down from $650. The UGLY...a synthetic stock with pistol grip and perforated metal hand guard. I have a decent GI stock and hand guard and can unload the synthetic stock to someone else. I would post pics but it is just to gruesome to behold.

coneten, do before and after pics. I got my first Rock-Ola a couple of weeks ago. I also got a 6 digit Inland at the same time. It's a "blue Sky" also, but at $400.00 I can upgrade as I go along. So how about some pics.....Frank

    Keep the metal handguard...

and weld to it a 6" long piece of 5/8"W X 3/15 CRS to it.
THen use a Weaver 336 scope mount to locate the holes for drilling & tapping a Scout scope mount.

Did this to mine when the youngest asked to go Deer hunting; (daughter, 100# 5'5") I was back-up with .308.

old K1.5 Weaver looks nice up there, eject fine, no problems.

    Before and after...

[/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]I decided to replace the Choate with a vintage walnut stock, stamped SA on the edge, complete with the Korean white paint and rack number 802. It is ugly but this is after all a Blue Sky Rockola!.

You scored a 1st block Rock Ola, that the seller thought was a Underwood... +1.
    I agree with Frank,
Stripping and refinishing that stock would make it look great.
That Recoil plate should be ROQ not ROG.
Thanks for sharing your find with us. Also interested in how it shoots.
Just wish we had a sound track from Clint Eastwood's old westerns playing while we read/look at it.
    Good Deal....Enjoy.

First block..thanks for the info..what would the timeline be on this one? Is the 6-44 Underwood barrel a replacement? I checked the recoil block..it is ROQ. I just found a clean walnut M2 stock and it looks much better. When I saw the Rockola under the sight it was pretty much a done deal..Choate and Blue Sky be damned!

I'm pretty sure Rock Ola only used their own barrels. Plus supplied them to other makers.
