Funny you should ask. I actually took mine apart last fall. It was a real bear. If you have access to a torch with a fine flame, heat the block around the pin. DO NOT get a lot of heat on the barrel itself. It took a 16 oz. hammer and a good punch, but it came out. Be sure to support the bottom of the block so you don't bend anything.

wow! incredible that it has to be so hard to get it out. no wonder Universal went belly up on making and selling carbines.

Actually, I believe the company finally failed due to liability issues with their type 3's firing out of battery.
You can research that aspect of their demise on-line. There's lots of info out there on the net.
