'03 Pic: Blast from the Past
This is a picture of my grandfather's OCS class graduating in 1942 at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. No idea where he is in the crowd, but I see some familiar arms in the picture!
He was a Master Sergeant in the North Dakota National Guard. He served as the Battalion Sergeant Major. He, my grandmother and my father traveled to Cheyenne, WY for some kind of extended training on December 6th, 1941. On December 8th the North Dakota National Guard was activated and my grandmother and father went back to Jamestown, ND. A few days later, my grandfather accepted a temporary commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Signal Corps, which was made permanent about 5 years later.
