I am Ron Mancini, and this is my first post. I purchased a M1icon carbine made by Plainfield to plink with because I had so much fun with the first M1 carbine I had. I purchased the first one on 1957 for $35.00, and shot thousands of rounds through it because 30 cal carbine ammo was free at the local armory. My father gave it away when I was in the USN during the late 50's.

The Plainfield carbine works well with the 15 round magazine that came with it. Two new magazines, 15 and 30 round magazines, do not work because the rounds do not feed onto the chamber correctly. It looks like the magazine lip is narrower on the new magazines. How do I correct this problem. Thanks.

    Welcome Ron,
Are the new mags your using GI?
Also on these new mags....look closely to see if the little nubs or indents aren't pressed down some. It might be possible they just aren't holding a fully loaded mag up tight. Sometimes I have to pry them out a little with a small eye glass type screw driver.
