Question about the SG-S'G' split serial block

Why was the SG contract starting at 3,250,020- 3,651,519 split and reassigned to S'G'?
Was there an exact switch over per serial number?
Or was there a co-build to finish up this block?
    These Saginaws are frustrating .......

    TIA

could it be that at the same time they were assigned to build IP's serials which were built as S'G' to start and finish the IP serial blocks?

    Charlie . .
I have a small IP/S'G'/S.G. database and I see that particular block commingled. Of the six S'G's I have data for, 3 have Underwood barrels, 2 have undated Saginaw barrels and one Buffalo arms. 7 of the 17 S.G.'s in that block have the undated Saginaw marked barrels, 5 have Underwood barrels, 2 have undated IBM barrels (one of those sports a WRA proof mark), and 3 Inland.
I wonder if it's possible that S'G' sent their marked but not serial # stamped receivers to Saginaw to finish? They sure are puzzling carbines but I love 'em!

    It was listed on GB.
    Link,
    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=139882561
Not many details in the listing.
I sent the seller a list of questions about it.
He replied to about half of them.
When I e-mailed him back for more info, he ended up calling me.
I was able to find out it is a SG 3,403,022
    No Import markings
IBM barrel (still not sure if dated)
    Frt Sight... SG marked
    Bayo band...AI
    Rear Sight..IRCO
Op slide, Bolt, Trigger Housing and mag SG.
    Safety..Push SG
Stock... WRA/GHD with CC and a P on the grip bottom.
Offered to me off the radar.
Said he shipped it this past Monday via UPS..Insured.
Sending it to my local FFL who just had surgery. Now I've got to wait to see when the local barber/FFL can pop in and out to hook up with UPS when it arrives.

Waiting on a carbine.....makes weeks feel like months !!

I don't know....I have a SG 3,465,948 with a SG barrel and grooved frt sight.
As always, I'll be interested to see what I have. I paid less than his listed price on GB. He had 4 days 12 hrs left in the auction. But offered it up for less. He ended the auction while we were on the phone.

I know one thing......I sure don't need another Winchester stock.

I could be wrong but S'G' used SG numbers in the 3.5mil and 3.6mil blocks.
    Your 3403XXX would be SG.
