    safety options for sporter 03's

many times i get asked if there is anything that can be done other than the little add on safety that will work but is just not husky, nor in my opinion safe

does anyone make a shroud that will adopt a winchester style safety, there are many that will work on the mauser, and in fact i have two of them on converted model 98's they are crisp, clean, quiet and safe

sure would like to see something, i have two that are converted and would like to upgrade the safety

If you are referring to the Model 70 type safety, the answer is "Yes". I have one on my Springfield sporter (sporterized 03). Hitch your britches for the price (about $190 - and I only paid $250 for the rifle). I think I got it from Brownell's. Works great once properly installed.

well now, i imediately went to the web page and then called them, because i have seen the mauser shroud safety and have purchased them i have never never seen a shroud safety for a springfield.....

HOWEVER, WITH THE DISCUSSION WITH TECH AT BROWNELLS, HE STEERED ME TO A FELLOW IN WASHINGTON STATE THAT PRODUCES THEM AND BOY ARE THEY NICE!!!! but pricery now they are 320.00 with cocking piece and that is what i want

    Ed LaPour Gunsmithing

I have and am making a rifle for each of my grandsons and i have made one and am working on the 2nd, but have another 03 action and another mauser action
this is product number one for eldest grandson, and my deal is that when he does something out of the normal he gets the rifle, so far he does not get it, but is planning on entering army and when and if he graduates from boot camp i will give it to him it is a 1916 GEWicon, schillen barrel, timney trigger, gentry safety, weaver 3X9 (rebuilt) and custom stock, pachmeyer pad 3006

well i just parted with 325.00 us dollars and sent a cashiers check for a 3 position safety with knurled striker...

comes in white and will more than likely require some fitting
    (hell they all do)

but this is a nice rifle, and since it had already been drilled and taped for lyman 48 sights i did not feel bad to drill and tap for a redfield base

this will be oldest sons christmas present for the next three years...........

but i hated the cheap little safety that could/can/looks like crap safety that was on it, and standard safety was a issue with scope

wth its onlymoney and if i dont spend it nancy pelosi will find a way to spend it
