    Carbine rack

I was just given an M1icon carbine A-framed rack. I don't need it and I'm wondering, how much are they going for? If it's not worth selling, I'm going to leave it by the dumpster along with the M1 rifle rack that was given to me too. It was originaly an A-frame, but it's been modified for only one side.

one sold for a bit over $600 dollars on GB, BUT it was an unaltered W.W.2 example complete with the original type Gov't lock.

I'm not sure what the original Govt. lock looks like. However, this one has securing bars on both sides of the A frame. each securing bar is secured on both ends and hinges up to secure the barrels. THey have a hole on the ends where a lock can used to fasten them to the framel I'll have to go outside and look at it whan I take it out of the back of my pickup. I have to drive somewhere out of town and I don't want to haul the two racks around with me. If anybody is interested. they can offer me some trade or maybe some cash. However, I can't imagine how I'd ship it anywhere. It's big and bulky. Anyone live near Omaha NE? I'll try to take a picture or two and post them here this morning. If not now, then when I get home tonight.

    Well..

yours is missing the flat board that goes on top with the notches for the bbls to go in. The butts would go into the spaces between the lower blocks , bbls in the notch of the top plate , then the gates would be swung up , the short bars entering the mag wells , "locking each gun in the rack , then a padlock at each end to lock the gates closed.
WW2 ones had wood blocks on the bottom rack and the top plate was wood. Later ones used different material but were built the same. As was said , about 6-800 for a minty one. Yours needs some fixing , but you're still looking at 2-300 at least , maybe more.

Thanks Chris. I took a peice of wood off of the top yesterday. It was just unpainted pine. I should put it back on again. Maybe the other peice fit over that? I think anyone talented with a jig saw could fabricate another top piece. The bottom blocks are of wood. So, maybe this is from WW II. OK, Chris, that gives me an idea of what to ask in trade for it. I've nothing in it but gas money to get it. Thankyou. There's a guy who lives just about 40 minutes from me who wants to come look at it. I sure don't want to put any shipping into it. Thanks again Chris. Fred Gaarde, Yutan, Nebraska

Here are some more pictures of the carbine rack. The wooden peice on top is very easy to make and I might just do it before letting it go. It'd be addmitedly a new piece, but it could be painted OD with the rest of the rack and it'd be just fine and dandy. That's really all a Minty one would probably be, just a cleaned up and freshly painted rack. Easily done. The next three photo's are of the Garandicon rack and one more of the carbine rack.
