Bavarian on GB

I don't know for sure...but does make me wonder also. So far no takers at that price. I'd be happy if I get one with those early original parts! Just have to be patient and see what the CMP gods come up with.

I sent another piece of mail the day I sent my Bavarian order to CMP. It was received in Dallas on 9/30. I know the old saying "A day late and a dollar short". But how do you finish "A day early and..."? Two tears in a bucket? If I get my order returned, I'll wait for the barreled receivers that Orest said would be released.

I still don't understand after reading many of these posts these past years why this particular one is worth that much money? Why can't this be a "put together" all-correct carbine? Does that make it so valuable.. Please explain..

Magyar, my explanation is simple... remember Cabbage Patch Dolls 15 years ago? Everyone "had" to have one so the price skyrocketed. The next Christmas they couldn't give them away!

You are dealing with people who are "collectors" The value of any collector item is determined by how much the community as a whole is willing to pay for it. Hence, the price is high because everyone wants one - now. Rock-ola's are the same way. They are not the rarest of the manufacturers, but everyone "wants" to have one, so......

My choice of action? I'm not overly concerned about getting a Bavarian. I may pick one up later on when the "newness" wears off and the prices drop off in the trading world.... until then, I'm just considering them as the Cabine Collector's version of a Cabbage Patch Doll....

Spot on Tired Retired! Exactly why I'd only buy from the CMP for the price their asking right now(around $700 for flip and if lucky, type 1 barrel band). Try finding any carbine on GB or any pawn shop with those original parts for less than that. Can be found at that price, but not common, and definitely not in my neck of the woods.

Once sold from the CMP, the market is simply what they'll pay(cabbage patch prices). Maybe I can get one now at the reasonable price, and not have to wait a year for the market to settle down. I'm having a lucky streak right now, at least as far as fall hunting goes, got an Antelope and deer so far. Maybe I can stretch the luck to a reasonably priced CMP Bavarian also!

Did you noticed that this one is not a Bavarian ? The " LGKOÖ " means "Landesgendarmerie-Kommando Oberösterreich". So thats an Austrian carbine.
