Was at a local gun shop today, and saw a No. 1 Mk III BSA dated 1940. The metal looked OK, but the nose cap didn't match (unusual), and the butt plate was REALLY proud (ears perking up here), wood looked really clean and not many bruses or gouges. Got looking really hard at it, and low and behold found a clue. Under the metal inside the mag well was the tell tale signs of the red and white DP band. It appears that some firm is [cleaning] these up and getting them on the market. The wood was heavily sanded and devoid of stamps. Note to Enfield Trader, I think the rifle you are looking at online may be one of these! Buyer beware!
By the way, it was a full bore price....Information
