    For Inland parts; L.I. was LOMBARD GOVERNOR CO. right? What does W.I. and P.I. stand for? TIA AGAIN!!!

    PI is Packard for Inland. The B shown is not the makers mark which will be inside the slide box on the floor. That is probably a PI slide as they always put a letter on the bottom like that - inspector's mark or some other internal code. The D7161848 is of course the military inventory code which came in later in the war. I'm not sure of the numbers but I think that's a Type 5. I had one with a big V on the bottom - at that time I thought it meant Type 5 - then I saw one with a B like yours and realized what it was.

    D-7161843 is the drawing number. As Bubba said it is a type VI slide.

    High Standard type VI replacement part.
    That has not been able to be proven. Some think it was "High Standard Arms"; however, the corporate name was High Standard Manufacturing Company, Inc.

    Nobody knows for sure who made them.
