    Full-kit L42A1 + scope for sale

I hope the moderators will forgive me for mentioning an onine auction, but the rarity of the object surely justifies it.

On the Germanicon site egun.de Auction No. 2416398, there is what appears to be a full-kit L42A1 in box with Type 32 scope in box etc.

This auction runs out at 21:45 German time tomorrow, 10th October. Present bid is 2210 euros, so this might be a real opportunity for someone on this forum. (Of course, if I had the money myself, I wouldn't have said anything!!)

Because the gun is in Germanyicon, it can only be sold to someone in the E.U.

Would I be able, as a British citizen, to puchase that rifle, have it shipped to an address in Englandicon, then admire it via webcam because I am sure no one would let me import it into the US?

    E.u. Law?

I've seen this law referenced before. Does this mean that NO guns can be imported into Canadaicon, UKicon or USAicon from these areas? Or just SOME guns?
    (i.e. surplus)

Although many do not approve - the UK is in the EU.
I'm told 'importing' a gun from Mainland Europe is not difficult (there again its very simple to import one from the USA into the UK - the problem seems to be paperwork / licences on the US side shipping out of country)

At the current auction price it looks very cheap - for comparison there is a 32 scope on the auction site we dont mention that is £1000 (US$1600) and has not reached reserve.

  9. Thank You to Alan de Enfield For This Useful Post:

There should be no difficulty in exporting a non-automatic rifle from a licensed gun dealer in Germanyicon to a licensed dealer in another EU country. In fact, there is a standard EU export/import form for this purpose.

The E.U. has signed on to the UN mandate about exporting surplus military weapons. Meaning that NO surplus military may be exported, only destroyed. The thinking is that this will keep those dangerous things out of the hands of people with less than honorable intentions. Civilian arms, or sporting arms, can be exported as they are not military.

That only applies if the gun is owned by a government. Once it has passed in to private ownership (as this one obviously has) it is no longer "surplus" and can be traded at will by who ever owns it, subject, of course, to the law in that particular country.

    Thanks Harry, for the clarification,
BTW, the complete kit went for 3080euros. DOes that seem a fair price /bargain / expensive? - Just in case another one turns up!
