deactivation quesiton for ex. PPSH-44 /M59

Anyone know with either the russian PPSH41 or Yugo M49/57, what is done to it when it is deactivated? The regulation in Canada for deactivating seem specific, but many gunsmiths also have their methods to their madness.

Particularly on the PPSH41 / Yugo M49/57 the barrel is hinged on the frame of the receiver, I wonder if by "requirement" this would be welded shut so that the firearm could not be opened anymore, I also wonder if the bolt would be drilled out, or just the firing pin removed, ..

I wonder many things - anyone have any insight to deactivations on these older military firearms?

If the firearm is registered, and you want it deleted from the Registry as deactivated, you will likely have to follow the RCMP's deactivation guidelines.
These would include:
-boltface being cut back at 45 degree angle;
-hole drilled through the receiver and barrel breech, and a steel pin welded in place, welding both the receiver and the chamber.
-trigger mechanism rendered incapable of full auto fire by welding;
-firearm welded to prevent disassembly;
-magazine deactivated and welded in place.
I think that about sums it up. You can go to the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program website and look up the guidelines.

Are you looking to acquire a deactivated gun or deactivate one that you, or someone else, owns?

If it's the latter, please try to find a home for it rather than deactivate it. There are still lots of guys with the ability to own FA and even more that can own a CA.
