H-110 For Reloading the M1 Carbine

    Newbie to This Forum

I would like to hear from those of you who reload using H-110. I’m interested in the grain amount you are using for your reloads in your carbine.

I have experience in reloading .45, .40 and 9mm. This is the first rifle I have I’ve owned a rifle since I was a young boy of 13 (a .22) and it’s been 40 years since I have fired a carbine when I had to qualify with it when I was in the army.

My carbine is an Inland with a barrel stamp of “12-44”, with “P” and a manufacture date of March 1945. It’s all Inland except the hammer and butt plate which are Winchester.

Reloading components I will be using:

500 carbine casings, mixture of head stamps; LC 77 & 73.
    2lbs of H-110 powder
    Wolf small rifle primers.
    X-Treme bullets, 110gr.

I have the Layman 48th and Speer #14 reloading manuals.

Any information you have reloading H-110 in your carbine will be very helpful.

While H110 is a fine powder for jacketed bullets, it is not the best powder to use with cast or plated bullets. I would suggest 2400 or IMR4227 powder for these bullets.

When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

H110 and Win 296 are the SAME powder. Just different lots. Either will run fine at 14.5 gr.

    H110-14.5 grains
    2400-14 grains
Either will give you 1975fps about 12' from muzzle.
