    Colt 1911 Reproduction

I saw a pair of Colt 1911 Reproduction pistols today. They were consecutive serial numbers.
    Price was $2200.
There's no way I can afford that but I'm curious if that's a fair price?
I guess we can all dream...

    Thanks!

Are they the blue 01911 WMK's, or the black 01918 WWI's? Little high I'd say, but maybe not too much. That's $1100 each, I paid $900 for my 01911 WMK model, and it was lighty used with one box of ammo through it. Outstanding pistol, I love it! The WMK's have been out of production for several years, so they'd be worth more than the black WWI's, which are still being made. Same pistols, other than the finish and serial number suffixes.

Basically, I'd say that's a good price for new 01911's, maybe a little high for used 01911's or new 01918's. Being a pair with consecutive numbers will increase the value a little too.

I'm very happy with mine! The stocks were kinda funky, but Colt gave me another set no problem.

    Thanks Ron.
I didn't really look close enough since there were a lot of other guns I was
    looking at. Kinda sensory overload!
If I understand correctly there was the first model that was blued and now the current production is dull black? Is that correct?

Yep. The first model, the 01911 with the WMK suffix, is known as the Carbonia Blue finish, like my pistol above. Colt promised a limited run of them at either 4000 or 5000, not sure which. At that number, they stopped as promised, but the pistols were so successful they changed to the 01918 WWI model in the Black Oxide finish, with no such promises of limited production.

I got very lucky, and found a guy on another gun board that was selling the pistol above for $899. Turned out he worked in the office building across the street from mine! I just walked over there with the cash, and came back to my office with a new Roscoe, boxes, and all accessories. Those are actually the photos that he sent me before I bought it, my photos of it all stink.

Considering a consecutive pair of originals would be $22,000.- I would think the price is fairly reasonable.
