    Dates and serial numbers

Some time ago we got into the discussion of Serial numbers and dates, someone had the answers, I have another 1917 ser# 418475 and barrel date of 7-18 (both Remington) do they match and where can I find a publication that would have that information? I know about good 1903 books, but are there any "must haves" for the 1917s?

I don't know if there is a good book. The rifles were assembled indisciminatly. Often the last parts put in the bin were the first ones taken out. My books just give total production figures and approx dates. They use language like "highest number observed". If you do come across something useful, please share it.

    Numbers

I found it in the threads, Dan Wilson seemed to have an idea about them.

I only have "UNITED STATES RIFLE MODEL OF 1917" by C.S. Ferris, but I highly reccomend it. According to a table in his book your barrel and receiver are correct for each other.
