A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Why would a WW2 collector want a postwar rifle? These do turn up from time to time, for a LOT less than the askinig price.

Paid $300 for my first one, all matching, about 7 years back. Since then I have seen several ranging from $400 to about $700, some matching more than others. Seen the odd dewat around as well in the $100 range.

The price in the US is irrelevant with these since they can't go to the US with their origional short barrel. What is neat is the little C/i\ markings. These marks were supposed to be obsolete by 48; since these guns were built for the F86 sabre, I believe they came after that date.

Since the guns also fall into the "restricted" class due to their short overall length with the collapsed stock, they aren't even a good pack gun anymore.

An interesting piece of memorabilia, yes....$1800 interesting; I don't think so.
