    mauser wiping rod thread

    I have a mauser built in 1940 by j.p. sauer and son and it is missing its wiping rod. It does not look like a russian capture because it has all matching numbers on all parts? can any one help me with the thread pitch on the rod holder in side the stock? Thanks for your annswers Hank45

    Wiping Rod????

    I think that you are talking about the cleaning rod. I don't know the thread used but why would you need that?
    Are you planning to make one? If so why not just order a reproduction cleaning rod from SARCO or Numrich????

    some cleaning rods have simply been lost over time, whether it be in the field by the soldier or by the post war owner(s). try gunbroker or ebay. original ones can get quite pricey, but reproductions go for about $10-$15.

    another question, just how many parts were issued to the Germanicon GI for cleaning his rifle, that cleaning rods are all pretty short??
