Those were no CIA pouches. There were 4 different designs and were known as "Indigenous Force Pouches" because they designed to fit both US, European and Sovieticon type magazines, which were all in use by the South Vietnamese. They were produced in the very early 1960's, circa 62.

    This is one design.

Here are photos of the pouch I described in an earlier post. I know this is a knock-off. But is a knock off of a real USGI issue or is it totally fake?

    Thanks!

Never saw one like that. I don't think it is modeled after GI. The ones i saw were like the ones Mr Ricca posted. Thats pretty cool, i wouldn't mind a pair of those on an LC2 belt. Where did you get it? Any more available?

This came from epay. There were two listed by the same seller. I bid on both, lost one and won this one.

The quality is a bit cheaper than typical USGI but still serviceable. I wonder if it was copied from foreign design or if it was dreamed up by the maker. But I agree...two on an LC2 belt would be great.

It is a total Fantasy Item, meaning it was never a US item of issue.

I can make up a great story.

"During a foreign secret invasion by our troops they captured an enemy soldier with a 3 pocket pouch for the AK. The troops, being issued carbines requested the CIA locally produce the equivalent for their carbines. This was unmarked, so as not to show it was the US involvement and never in the federal supply system."

How is that for a story. Anybody want add on?

If it were me, and it was advertised as an original US GI, I would contact him and let him know he was ignorant of the facts, or a liar. His choice.

We can add: TRhese pouches were personally designed and authorized by Ollie North and were issued through "Southern Air" only to trusted contract workers...

Nice sets. We never had magazine pouches and I had to carry my six magazines for the M2 in a tool pouch with a shoulder strap. ARVN and CIDF's had home grown pouches on the belt or a chest type.

    Cheers

Well, the seller has another one up for sale on epay. To his credit, he lists it as a current production, NOT a real USGI pouch. He also names the manufacturer, a maker of current special ops gear. I went to their website but couldn't find any listing, and there is no manufacturer's stamp on the pouch.

But it isn't a bad pouch if you're a shooter and want to easily carry 30 round mags. I may get a second one.

    Brasidas,
I sent him an email and asked if he had more. I won't bid against you so you can have your pair.
