That really reminds us of the history we all hold in our hands when we handle our little collections. With all the whinning about "correct" stocks and flip sights and whether a carbine is refinished or not - those pictures put it all in perspective for me. That carbine did not "survive" just like the 416,000 American service men and women (yes I said women) who died in that war. I hope that in a way I am helping to preserve and appreciate that sacrific by just holding, and caretaking for, just a few momentos of those events.

Oh, and to our Canadianicon Forum brothers - the stats I have show that over 45,000 Canadian service personnel died for Western freedom. May we not forget their sacrific and valor.

My Uncle Howard Burton an American from Virginia

Died while co-piloting a Lancaster for the RCAF, over Munich. 25 or so missions in a Wellington and the first in a Lancaster they get him. He went AWOL from the US Army because he wanted to fly in the big war.
