The links are pics of my little .308 Mauser with S&K Scope Mount, attaches with allen wrench, no gunsmithing required. Just remove the rear sight and install the mount per instructions. They make mounts for a variety of Mauser models. Testing with several types of loads proves that the mount is rock solid. I am very pleased with it. The S&K scope mount web site link below.

Currently, I have a Bushnell red dot sight on it. I tried a cheap NcStar long eye relief scope, but it could not hold a zero, sent it back in exchange. The Bushnell gives you a choice of reticles, 3 mil red dot, large red dot, cross hair, and 3 mill red dot with a circle. Most of the reviews on it were good. It looks a little awkward, but in shooting at 200yd, I could hit a 14" gong 50% of time standing, from sitting or prone supported 100% hits with FNM surplus ammo. You have to use a "chin weld" instead of the cheek weld, but I still found it comfortable, steady, light, easy to point and shoot. (YMMV)

All in all, a handy little rifle that will make real fun gun and a fine hunter if I choose to hunt with it. (Will post later with some accuracy results, but suffice to say the rig provides very adequate hunting accuracy with good ammo.)

Had it out to the range again. Scope mount held very solid in 40 rounds. Inexpensive Bushnell Trophy red dot sight held its zero fine, and 3 mil dot works great. Held a 4 in group with 15 shots at 200 yd, with most shots within 3 in, 165 Sierra BTSP reloads. Once again very impressed with feel and handling, and a good sight picture. From standing unsupported, hit the gong at 200yd most of the time, red dot really helps stay on target.

If you want a good mount for a scout scope type configuration on a Mauser, I highly recommend this one.
