    Jinsen Type 38

Got this on Gunbroker recently. Jinsen made only 13,000 or so Type 38 rifles so they are somewhat rare. This rifle has matching numbers, a ground mum, and it had some surface rust that cleaned up with Kroil and bronze wool. Slideshow showing as-received condition and after clean-up at Jinsen Type 38

It's always seems amazing to see another example of what dedication , Kroil , and bronze wool can do.
    Well played , sir.

This is the first Arisakaicon I bought that has a ground mum (I have seven counting this one). I made an exception for this one because it is a Jinsen. It wasn't listed as a Jinsen (just "WW II Japanese rifle matching - vet p/u") and the pictures were fuzzy

but I spotted the Jinsen marking so I decided to go for it despite the rust and ground mum because it is a matching-number Jinsen. Price was $205.

The bore has cleaned up so the lands are shiny. I have an electric bore cleaner that I made that I might use to clean out the grooves, but shooting it might also do the trick.
