    Talking Hungarian PU sniper value

Awhile back I had to pass on a Hungarianicon PU sniper all correct, matching, not rebuilt as far as I could tell and no obvious import marks. I'm saving up some funds in the event the fellow brings the rifle back to the next show. I believe the price was around $850/$900. dollars U.S. So I'm hoping two things, one the guy still has it and two he's still asking the same price. I'm willing to pay that amount and then some just to fill the hole in the collection, but, I really have no idea what they are truly worth. Could any of you folks give me an idea of the real value of this gun? Many thanks-SDH

I'd guess it's priced fairly, if not slightly under market value In Canadaicon it would be even more due to limited numbers here.

Many thanks, Claven2. I was recently told these versions of the PU's were built to a higher standard than there Russianicon dominator's. Have you ever heard anything about the building/rebuilding of these PU's? -SDH

If it's an "all correct" piece such as the one in the 1954 Mosin-Nagant M52 Hungarian Sniper Rifle (click here) on display in the MKLicon, then at that price, you should grab it and run like hell ....

I think if you check around some of the U.S. sites and find our it's rarity amongst Mosin sniper collectors, you should be able to double your money at auction without much effort. Remember, condition and correctness are the key. The scope may not match but that is very common with these. If it matches as well ..... you've hit a gold mine ...

    Regards,
    Badger

What badger said. And yes, build quality is typically higher as these were done post-war and bombs were not falling on the factory.
