The REL mount looks similar to the G&H mount except it is improved somewhat.

The G&H system uses the locking pins to secure it in place while the REL system uses both the pins and the plate to friction lock the rings to the mount.
Here's the one lousy pic used in the American auction...wonder how much it will go for?
Anyone know how correct this mount is? There's mention in the auction of it being changed or something...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... It'll be one of the Dutch bring backs. Repro base, legit rings & scope. The rifle is well outside the batch range.

The TP scopes are a separate military contract. They are uniquely marked. I've owned 3 of them and they all conformed to each other generally with 1 unique "tell" which I've observed. I asked Clive Law and several other collectors whether they had observed a TP which did not fit this pattern & no one claimed to have observed one outside it.

However, I have seen 1 for sale on Epay some years ago which was different and I believe it had markings faked up to look like a TP.

I'm guilty, I bought it. My garand bug has spread to enfields. I figured even though its a fake and its not being sold as legit its still cool to have. The price is decent for whats included and i was looking for a No4 anyway. The scope makes it a little more desirable. I plan to take it to the range just to see how many people will ask if its real!.

I think he's referring to the CGN Private Ad rifle that started this thread and not the RIA U.S. auction piece ....
