The serial number is HK103111, but what is the date on the knoxform on top?

Knoxform? Badger, you've been hanging out with those Lee-Enfield people again haven't you? T'ain't no such thing on a Swedish Mauser. The date is on the top of the receiver ring under Carl Gustafs stads Gevärsfaktori. The carbine in this message, 103111, was made in 1918. HK are the initials of the military inspector, Helge Gustaf Ludvig Kolthoff
1 Apr 1912 - 28 Feb 1923.

I`ve got the date from my book the HK is an inspectors stamp and he was an inspector on CG plant in 1912.
The book is in german it is this: "Die leichten schwedischen Infanteriegewehre, Armee und Heimwehr" written by Carsten Schinke , Journal-Verlag Schwend GmbH, no ISBN Number.

My M94 is stamped 1917 with HK after the serial number (94338). Hk was an inspector in 1912, according to Gunner's book. ?

Hi Gerry,

The inspectors at CG plant were officers from the Army and the Navy. They changed often. One year the HK was inspector in 1912, 1914 and 1915 a few months in 1916 and from 1917 til 1920. Int the years from 1900 til 1920 CG had 10 different inspectors in intervals of 6 months up to 3 years. Here`s a scan for you and others.

I am going to look at a 1894 carbine tonight, it has been represented as a 1907 version of a Naval model. I was given the serial which is 76521 which falls outside the range for that year. The seller also explained that the disk was missing and that a recoil pad was put on the rifle. Asking price is $400, which is really good, maybe too good. Is there anything I need to be especially careful of???

Nothing special. look that all is complete, the bore is good and that there is only a disk with the " K.FL." for the Navy. Sometimes they have an extra badge, squared shape for the new m/41 bullets. It is for the POA difference to the older m/94 rounds. If all is complete with matching numbers an good conditioned, buy it. The price is really good. And please if it is yours send pics! Ahh Inspectors marks are GF 1899, OG 1899 - 1901, HR 1903, KB 1903 - 1905, JV 1905 - 1911 VT 1911 - 1912, HK 1912, JT 1912 - 1914, HK 1915, others are possible but very rare.

Got the 1907, serial is correct for that year, wood in wonderful shape. The only numbers that don't match are the magazine cover and butt plate. Bore was great. When they installed the recoil pad, they just glued it on the metal butt plate, Whew!!! Will post pictures if can figure out how, really jazzzzed!!!!
