This is the early '45 marking variation.

The .22" marked 45 dated receiver is a nice find. I need one of those for my collection.

The Cno7 marking can be found on 45 dated receivers ( I believe I have one or two) as well as all 46 receivers.

The 22 marking on the bottom is common to almost all no7 receivers. There were two differences in these receivers besides the markings....the little hole drilled and tapped for the windage adj spring, and the whitened strike mark for the windage indicator (to the left of the site).
I'll see about some pics of the variety of my reciever collection tommorrow.

The No.7 pic in Skenn's new book is a C.No7 dated 1945.

So there are at least 3- 1945 markings variations.

My 1946 is marked exactly the same as the 1945 one in Skenn's book

It looks like the MkI is handstamped in addition to the handstamped C.

Here is a lineup of the 44 dated receivers. At some time, the front two were upgraded to the later markings: From back to front the common reference is type1, 2 and 3.

I have also seen them where the upgrades were made in the smaller size sorrounding the large .22"

Hey, I just realised the closest one is in a class of it's own. It does not have the IN. mark after the .22 That would make it a type 3 minus.

And both have different markings on the stocks and receivers. Oh...the serial numbers are 8 apart..... The first one has a C broad arrow on the receiver ring and left side of the stock. Other one has no markings other than as shown on the receiver flat. Two distinct methods of marking, yet only 8 numbers apart. Hmmm, who said they have the definitive answer to LB Lee Enfield No.7 rifles
