M1903A1 Value
Hi folks! Need some quick feedback. Went to the Houston gunshow today and saw a M1903A1 that was for sell for $1800. It has a early thirties barrel, properly cartouched stock, and no Hatchers hole. I was put off by the dirty bore and wasn't sure that it just needed a good scrubbing or it was rough. Drawing numbers appear on both the buttstock and handguard. The exterior finish was 90 to 95% dark Parkerizing. Should I go back tomorrow with my muzzle gage and cleaning rod? Your feedback on the price would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! H.T.

Way too much for the rifle.

I'll second that. Take a pass on that one.

Maybe $1000.00. I think that dealer is looking for the "special" guy. Pass on this one.

Agree, pass. I saw one in the Ventura Gun Show back in Sept and again in Nov for $700. It wasn't on the guys table in Jan so draw your conclusion about the value.

Are your sure that it wasn't a 1903A1 NM?

Gentlemen: Thanks so much for your input. I took your advise and passed on the rifle. As to it being a NM, don't believe so as there were none of the tell-tales (no polished bolt) etc. . What moved me in the direction in the first place was the proper cartouches and no re-build marks. Regards, H.T.
